A Trip Down Memory Lane: Vietnam
It’s been a bit longer than a month since I last took a flight out of the country. Not so long I know. But with zero travel plans until October my wanderlust is through the roof right now. Especially since everyone around me is celebrating their summervacay and traveling all around the world. And me? I’m at home. Of course, all for the good, because without working much I can’t possibly travel much. So that is my plan for this summer: work hard to play hard.
This winter I’m probably going to plan a backpacking trip, and while searching for flight tickets, making itineraries and seeing photos of the most exotic and adventurous locations I can’t help but thinking and dreaming back to my last backpacking trip: Vietnam.
I’ve wrote a ton of stuff about Vietnam, Hanoi, Hoi An, the hotels I’ve slept in, the HaLong Bay and the Van Hai Pass already, but just because I can, I am going to go down Memory Lane one more time today. I am going to dream a little more about that awesome backpacking trip and I am going to take you with me.
ABOVE – Literally the very first photo I shot after landing in Vietnam. Hanoi is busy, crowded and energetic. While it took me some time to get used to, I definitely loved every second of it!
BELOW – More photos of Hanoi!
BELOW – Shots I took in Halong Bay. I’ve dreamt of visiting the Halong Bay for years. It almost felt unreal to finally see this view in real life.
ABOVE – Halong Bay friends.
BELOW – Views over Vietnamese jungles
ABOVE – The second biggest cave in the world. I can’t remember the actual depth of it, but I know that it could definitely storage the Empire State Building.. easily!
BELOW – Our hidden lunch spot above a river near Paradise Cave.
ABOVE – One thing I definitely miss from Vietnam: the food. The glorious food. Even for vegetarians the food was always insanely good!
BELOW – An adventurous route to an even more adventurous idea of a lake to take a swim. My swimming skills nearly weren’t good enough to get into this river!
ABOVE – The view from a local, hidden bar called ‘The pub with cold beer’. Definitely my favorite hang out in Vietnam!
BELOW – Two adorable siblings teaching us how to start a fire! – Their English was perfect, by the way!
ABOVE – Exploring and learning in a tunnel village from the Vietnam War. Devastating to see what Vietnam has gone through during this period of history.
BELOW – The oldest and biggest pagoda of Vietnam and her surrounding gardens.
ABOVE – The Hai Van Pass. Motorbiking over this insanely beautiful route definitely was one of the best days I had in Vietnam. The rush, the speed and the view.. amazing!
BELOW – Our secret lunchspot close to the beginning of the Hai Van Pass. Eating Vietnamese followed with a dip in the water.. bliss.
ABOVE – View over Da Nang.
BELOW – Sunset in Da Nang. One of my favorite shots I took in Vietnam.
ABOVE – The streets of Hoi An during the day, the last shots I took while in Vietnam.
BELOW – Hoi An at night
