If I knew Key West was this pretty I would have spent more time here, in stead of in Miami. At the moment I set foot into the beautiful Key West – the most popular island of the Florida-Keys I fell in love.
When searching for Key West on the internet you’ll mostly find photos of beautiful sunsets, white beaches decorated with palm trees and dolphins making their way through clear, blue water. I’m not complaining about those photos – nor am I saying you shouldn’t go to Key West just to spot some dolphins (really, I even spotted one from the car). But it was the town itself – the old, friendly looking, charming, wooden houses that decorate the streets of Key West – that made me love the island so much. Key West is more than just an island on a beautiful location. The streets, that are greener and more lush than you can ever imagine, are beautiful. Picture perfect – and you’ll fall in love, too. Unique doesn’t even describe the neighbourhoods.
Back on the main roads of Key West you’ll find bars and restaurants. When you aren’t accompanied by live music you’ll find a DJ that plays his tunes slightly too loud. You’ll disappear into the laughter of hundreds of tourists that are all drawn to this corner of the USA, for the simplest reasons. You’ll feast on fabulous Cuban food and eventually watch the sunset on the most beautiful deck of Key West.
There are a million reasons to travel to Key West – and for me there are a million reasons to return once more, and to stay a little longer.
For now – if you are one of the unlucky few who never heard of the island before: let me give you a quick impression of Key West though a small photo diary.
