The World Of Harry Potter : A Visit To The Studios

The World Of Harry Potter : A Visit To The Studios

I‘ve been a Harry Potter freak since I was younger. My sister read all the books over and over again, and while I never bothered to do the same thing (until recently), I’ve always enjoyed watching the movies. The more and more I saw them the more I loved them, and the more and more I saw them the more I found the film incredibly impressive. How on earth does one film a movie like this, and how on earth would this magic look like in real life.

At the beginning of last year I found myself in London, where, just around Oxford Street, I saw the bus of the Harry Potter Warner Bros studio tour drive past me. Is.. this.. real? Is this an actual thing? Turns out it definitely is! Unfortunately I had no time during that trip to plan a visit to the studios, but after one year of waiting way to impatiently and way to excited I finally had the chance to visit the Harry Potter studios for myself this month. And you can probably guess: I definitely enjoyed it.

It has been nearly 15 years ago, since the first movie came out. Yes indeed.. 15 years already. We’re getting old. The studios, that have been used during the movie have been untouched ever since – except for the fact that they have made a big tourist attraction out of it. Decors like the great hall, the train and the Gryffindor Common Room, that have been used throughout every movie are still standing, exactly as they were built. Other scenes, have been built and rebuilt according to the plan they had for each and every movie. So you won’t be able to see every set, of course, room in these studios is limited. However, the details of most of the sets, will be there for you to see. In fact: you will never have enough eyes nor time to see all the details of the movie and the decors.

How about the original clothes they wore, the night bus, Dobby or the Quidditch supplies? Just to name a few. Not giving everything away though: you need to see this for yourself.

Seeing the Harry Potter studios  in real life and the magical world that has been created has not only made me fall in love with the movie even more, it made me have way more respect than I could ever have for the movie, the people who designed the sets and worked in the studios and for the whole film-making industry.

The whole set has been designed and made with such care and love for creating the best piece of work. Before seeing the studio for myself I never realized how much of hard work creating the film must have been, but once you know the stories that you will see, read and hear throughout the tour, you will definitely understand where I am coming from.

Just thinking about the special effects and the details of every single set makes me cringe.. oh the work!

Went here last year and it was sooo good. I was a bit disappointed with the butterbeer though. Not sure what I expected, but don’t know if it lived up to my imagination haha.

I considered making the trip down for the Hogwarts in the Snow version to see everything with a Christmas theme. That would have been quite fun.

    • Haha butterbeer to me tasted like Sprite with whipped cream or something like that. I expected it to be really creamy beer, but luckily I liked this better!

  • AH I’m dreaming of going here and just London in general to get my Harry Potter fix haha.

I need to go here, SO BADLY. I was recently at King’s Cross and finally got a picture at Platform 9 3/4. BEST DAY EVER. Although I stopped myself from buying anything in the shop because I would have probably gone crazy in there to be honest.

  • I definitely need to go here! In January, I was at King’s Cross, and it was painfully difficult to not spend all my money at the shop!
